Nimble Name · for Mac

document(3).pdf. Sound familiar? Nimble Name reads
your PDFs and photos, works out what they are, and gives them
names you'll actually recognize.
Free · Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 26 or later · requires a local AI server
Nimble Name doesn't include an AI model. It works with a local AI server running on your Mac, such as oMLX, LM Studio or Ollama. The server and its models are free, but you install and set them up separately. Once yours is running, point Nimble Name at it and you're ready.

Drag in files or whole folders.
Nimble Name reads each document and suggests a name: date, sender, what it is, and the amount.
Check the list, tweak anything you like, click once. Done.
Nothing gets renamed until you say so, and one click undoes the whole batch if you change your mind.
Nimble Name talks to the AI server on your own Mac. Your documents are read, understood and renamed right there, and nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Point it at your Downloads or scanner folder. New files are analyzed in the background, and a notification tells you when they're ready.
Change the naming pattern, edit any suggestion, or add a reference number straight from the full-size preview.
Invoices, receipts, contracts, letters, even handwritten notes and phone photos.
A small menu bar icon shows how many files are waiting for you.
Because it is one: native, fast, keyboard-friendly, with Quick Look-style previews.
